The Jiangsu Provincial Government issued ICP (Internet Content Provider) and ISP (Internet Services Provider ) licenses to the broadcasting network companies within the province which make up the independently managed - but interconnected - broadcast, telecom and internet industries.

 

The ¡®Merging of the Three Networks¡¯ is an old topic of debate, and has been proposed several times in central government planning sessions over the last decade or so. However, the independent management of the broadcast, telecom and internet industries ¨Call three of which are related ¨C hampers the development of a single unit made out of their collective networks. The issuing of ICP and ISP licenses in Jiangsu Province signals the possibility for broadcasters to access the internet market, perhaps signaling that the Three Networks¡¯ convergence may finally be a reality.
